Chef Phant (Pon)
The master of
Classical and Traditional Home-style Thai cooking

Phant (pon) is from Thailand and grew up in a food business family. Growing up, he watched his mother and sisters cook daily. His duty was to taste the foods. He knew about good food at a very young age. By 9 years old he already knew how to cook. At 17 he was already a master of home style Thai cooking and another chef added to the family business.

Phant came to California in 1987 to pursue his education in  engineering. While he was a student he catered Home style Thai cooking around Sonoma County and the Bay Area. His success in catering home cooking Thai food helped him complete his education.  He holds BS degree in Mechanical engineering and worked with high tech industry in the South Bay. However, his passion was always cooking and good food. Because of Phant cooking skills, he got many requests from friends and family with good reviews.

Since the popularity of Thai food has increased dramatically, so has demand for Phant's cooking.  In response to requests from friends and family, he decided to teach Thai cooking using available ingredients in The US.  He hopes to educate people in all aspects of Thai cooking having fun while they are doing it. Phant believes he can take the mystery out of Thai cooking and crack a smile from his students with his offering. And hopefully his students will discover an added joy of "living" and a memorable experience from home style Thai cooking lessons.

Phant today is the founder of Thai Essence providing personal chef and cooking lessons for home style Thai cooking. He also has a complete product line for all of his recipes. He created many exotic dishes using Thai ingredients and fresh herbs that satisfy the American style of eating while maintaining the authenticity of Thai food.
